Appreciated its welcoming and incredible staff.
It was an upscale hotel in a nice enough area, adjacent to the shops. Had cheap and cozy room with a bathtub, 2 Queen beds plus an iron for a really great stay. Had a shower and a hairdryer in the bathroom.

There is nothing not to like about the Viking. Everything is first class. Have stayed there a number of times and will go back some more.
No complaints except the price is high but that is Newport in July.

We have stayed in a lot of hotels during the past year and the Viking was amongst the best. It has old world charm but is beautifully maintained with gleaming old wood floors, library and parlors that are updated and comfortable. It was fun to sit opposite the front desk and watch the other guests and parties come and go. We enjoyed the restaurant with its easy access for dinner. Our room was decorated in a light and airy manner while maintaining some old world charm in its wallpaper and rug. Everyone was extremely polite and very helpful in every way. We would definitely plan to stay there again when we come to Newport. It also has very easy walking access to town and the Cliff Walk and all the homes open to visit.
I would only make two suggestions. I didn't like the lighting in the new corridors as it is a bit yellow and not bright and cheery as the others. Also, I would like to see easier access to tea in the morning and afternoon instead of coffee.

The location in the heart of Newport, the thoughtfulness, courtesy, and effeciency of the staff (for example, there was a minor electrical problem that was taken care of diligently and well), the utter cleanliness.
I have found the quality of the food at the Restaurant attached to the hotel to be lagging behind whereas the service was excellent. The quality of the food - bland and quite mediocre - does not do justice to the reputation of the hotel, otherwise well-deserved. The average quality of the ingredients used may explain the culinary results.

Had a lovely two-night stay! The roof deck was a good spot for drinks, and the staff were wonderful. Nice to unwind there after a day out!
My room looked as outdated as my grandma's living room. Honestly, I expected a bit more glamour for the price!

I liked the architecture of the building. I'm a builder so I enjoy staying in places with character. It's in close proximity to the shoppes and restaurants.

Comfortable, elegant, great spa and pool, dinner in on-site restaurant was creative, outstanding, really; easy walk to mansions, harbor, shops and galleries, well maintained, green sensibilities, helpful and courteous staff; personal, not corporate feel
I am always disappointed to have to pay for wireless internet-but it was easy to use;
